In early 2021, Comparables.ai was founded by AI and finance experts in Finland to improve company analysis processes. Professionals in the financial industry typically face the following challenges:
1. Current tools rely on old technologies.
Industry classification codes are too broad to capture today's complex and diverse business models.
2. Insights from the previously conducted analyses are not saved and reused.
Due to outdated tools and inaccessible information, market analyses often generate lots of manual work (90% of analysis time can be reduced using new technology)
3. Analyses are prone to human error.
Relevant companies are easily unidentified, and cross-market insights are left out of the analysis.
Initially, we surveyed more than 100 participants to see if these problems are common in other markets. The results proved the need for a better solution. The next step was creating the core value propositions, validating them with investors, and building the first beta solution. In late 2021, Comparables.ai launched its first beta. Following the initial traction and based on key learnings from beta users the team started designing the 2.0 version in summer of 2022 - a complete upgrade to the platform.
Design validation.
We maintained a tight collaboration with our Beta users and collected qualitative feedback through surveys and online meetings. Furthermore, qualitative feedback combined with user analytics gave various insights into usability issues, visual design, and core user flows. This information created the backbone of designing the 2.0 product.

During the summer of 2022, we organized a design sprint to co-design Comparables 2.0. Following the Google design sprint methodology, we started with the core user needs, value propositions, and learnings from the beta users. During this phase, our targets and objectives crystallized, and we developed a high-level experience map. Team members benchmarked service experiences that are premium, joyful and intelligent. The design sprint continued with everyone sketching the ideas, discussing and voting on the best ideas. Quick Figma prototypes were created and tested further.

Based on the positive responses from initial tests, the team continued further design validation sessions with prospects and existing users.
Design implementation and optimization.
Design is implemented based on modern agile processes in a multidisciplinary setup. In October 2022, the product was successfully launched after three months of development. Since then, our priority has been constant optimization based on user feedback and analysis.

During the design phase, we have chosen the card UI paradigm for its ease of use, modularity, and clarity. Familiarity with the cards interface reduces the learning curve for the users. Therefore, we have created various types of cards to guide our users: Company information, tips, upgrade, articles, feedback.
Company profile pages are designed to provide complex financial information in a simple way.
Analysis view to analyze the peer groups in-depth and export the information further.
On top of comparing companies, our AI can now compare markets and identify niches, drivers and trends with text generation.
